Just a few weeks into the 2015 Canadian Lacrosse League season, rookies have made their impact felt early and often. Once again , CLax freshmen were impressive in week four of the CLax season.
Dan Keane continued his early push for CLax Rookie of the Year, netting a hat trick and adding three helpers in the Southwest Cyclops’ 12-9 victory over the Niagara Lock Monsters. The University of Delaware grad leads the league in goals with eight. Keane leads all rookies in scoring with 10 points. For the second time in four weeks, the Elora,ON native was named rookie of the week.
Fellow Cyclops freshmen Kyle Childerhose tucked away two goals and an assist for his first three points of his career.
A pair of former Medaille College Mavericks products made an impressive debut for the Lock Monsters. Brock Levick netted a goal and three assists in his first CLax game of his career. Scott Johnson chipped in with a pair of goals. The Akron,NY native was signed earlier in the week and placed on the active roster. Fellow Lock Monster Gage Board also recorded his first point of his CLax career, grabbing an assist in the loss.
Thomas Hoggarth was solid of both sides of the ball. Strong defensive play and a pair of goals helped earn the Peterborough,ON native earn a Rookie of the Week honorable mention. Hoggarth now has four points in three games.
Connor Latimer found the back of the net for the first time in his CLax career. The Whitby,ON native also added an assist, bringing his total to three in two games.
