Connor Danko CLax Goalie of Year

The Canadian Lacrosse League is pleased to announce Niagara Lock
Monsters Connor Danko as the 2013 CLax Goalie of the Year and the
Brampton Inferno’s Ben McCullough as the 2013 CLax Defensive Player of
the Year.

In his rookie campaign, Connor Danko helped lead the Lock Monsters to
an 11-3 regular season record. In nine regular season games, Danko
posted a 7-1 record tying the Clax single season wins record. He also
finished second in the league in both goals against average (10.20
GAA) and save percentage (.809). Earlier this week, Danko was also
named a 2013 CLax First Team All-Star.

“What I really like about Connor Danko is his determination to get
better game in and game out,” stated CLax Commissioner Paul St. John.
“By game three of his tenure between the pipes, this young man had
shown he had a complete all-around game which allowed the Lock
Monsters to gain confidence. To do all this as a 21-year old rookie is
just simply amazing. His future is very bright and we congratulate
Connor on a fantastic year, very deserving of the 2013 CLax Goalie of
the Year!”

Ben McCullough appeared in nine regular season contests in 2013 for
the Inferno adding six goals and 10 assists. As a rookie in 2012, he
was also among the league’s top defenders while contributing with
eight goals and seven assists for 15 points. McCullough is an
intimidating presence in the defensive zone and plays an aggressive
and physical style game. Earlier this week, McCullough was also named
a 2013 CLax First Team All-Star.

“It is great to see Ben get honoured with this major league award,”
said Brampton GM / Head Coach Brian Biesel. “His skill set, combined
with his work ethic and toughness make him an NLL calibre defenseman.
Hopefully this will open the doors necessary for him to get there.”
