Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced the weekly award winners for Week Three of the 2013 season, which concluded on May 12. The winners are chosen every week by MLL Commissioner David Gross and are based on outstanding in-game achievements. The Warrior Offensive Player of the Week went to Rochester Rattlers’ Ned Crotty, while Denver Outlaws goalie Jesse Schwartzman took home Warrior Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Crotty helped lead the Rochester Rattlers to their first win of the 2013 campaign, defeating the Charlotte Hounds 13-10 Saturday night, at American Legion Memorial Stadium. The attackman rifled in three goals, and dished out four helpers, to cap a seven point effort in the rematch from Week Two. In only his second game of the season, Crotty sits atop Rochester’s leaderboard with 10 points. His five points-per-game is tied with Hamilton’s Kevin Crowley for most points-per-game in the League this season. Crotty and the Rattlers travel to Denver this Saturday, May 18, to take on the 3-0 Outlaws at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Tune into CBS Sports Network at 10:00 PM (ET) to see full coverage.
Schwartzman anchored the Denver Outlaws’ defense, en route to a 14-10 decision over the Boston Cannons Saturday night. The 7th year Outlaw earned his third win of the season, highlighted by a fourth quarter shut-out in Harvard Stadium. Stopping 17 of 27 shots, Schwartzman amassed a .629 save percent average on the night. His 35 total saves sit second on the MLL goalie leaderboard, behind New York’s Drew Adams. Denver will debut at home this Saturday, May 18, after a three game road stint. See Schwartzman take on Crotty and the Rattlers on CBS Sports Network at 10:00 PM (ET).
