A New Westminster Salmonbellie, Robert Morris Colonial, and soon to be be a member of the Burnaby Lakers, possibly the Ottawa RedBlacks and Vancouver Stealth, Tyler Digby has it all. New Westminster Secondary grad Tyler Digby, a two-sport NCAA Division I junior at Robert Morris University, was claimed in the fourth round, 36th overall, by the Ottawa franchise in the 2013 CFL college football draft earlier this year and 20th overall in this yearʼs 2013 NLL draft. The big 6ʼ4 forward will be turning his attention to lacrosse once his University football season comes to an end this semester.
Digby finished off his final year of lacrosse with Robert Morris last year, collecting 22 goals and 10 assists in his senior year. In 56 regular season games with Robert Morris the New Westminster product had a total of 71 points during his tenure with the Colonials.
Digby played his Junior “A” lacrosse career with his home town New Westminster Salmonbellies before being drafted by Burnaby in the WLA and the Vancouver Stealth of the NLL. His junior career spanned three seasons in which he put up impressive numbers (311 pts, 143 goals, 168 assists) in 80 total games. In 2010 he was named the Top Scorer, Most Valuable Player and was named to the BCJALL First All Star Team after scoring 89 points (34 goals, 55 assists) in the regular season. In 2011, named to the BCJALL First All Star Team after scoring 94 points (49 goals, 45 assists).
Its not often you see a guy with the combination of soft hands, size, strength and a keen nose for the net like he has. It will be interesting to see which path he chooses to go embark upon in his Athletic career. I feel he could be a hometown hero for the Stealth this season if he can crack the already stacked roster. However It is my opinion that this confident young man can bring all of his god given tools to the Stealth this season with continued success in his lacrosse career. Look for Tyler to fit in on the right side with guys like Duch, Iannucci, Bucktooth, Buchanan and company to work in the offense.
Donʼt be surprised if he steals some thunder this season, and donʼt be surprised how “stealthily” he moves for a big man at 6ʼ4 255 lbs.
