The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team just recently announced their 2012 fall-ball schedule as well as their incoming freshman players. This past season the Buckeyes finished with an 8-7 overall record, including an impressive 5-1 conference record, and an undefeated 4-0 record on the road. The Buckeyes are adding 13 new freshmen this year, three of which made Inside Lacrosse’s Top 100 incoming freshman list.
When asked about the incoming freshman, fifth year coach Nick Myers had this to say; “The Class of 2016 features young men from some of the most successful high school programs in the country…many of the incoming players are coming off championship seasons. We feel strongly about the character of this class; we are confident they will make Buckeye Nation proud both on and off the field in their time here at The Ohio State University.” The list of freshmen includes three attackmen, six midfielders, and five defensemen.
With practices long since underway, the Buckeyes are looking forward to a busy fall schedule. On September 28, the Ohio State lacrosse team will hold their annual Scarlet and Gray scrimmage on campus. A week after that scrimmage, notable alumni will travel to the school for an exciting alumni game on October the 5th.
Kicking off the team’s first game against another school will be a scrimmage held at Calvert Hall Academy in Baltimore, Maryland on October 14 against the North Carolina Tarheels. This scrimmage will be part of the Michael R. Breschi (MRB) Thumbs Up weekend. Proceeds from the weekend will benefit the MRB scholarship fund at Ohio State.
Following the scrimmage against the Tarheels, the Buckeyes will play their last scrimmage against Lehigh in San Francisco, CA. The scrimmage will be October 21 and is hosted by the Bay Area Youth Sports Foundation. All proceeds from the game will benefit various sports and education programs for children in the area.
