Fall ball is ongoing, and while results and attendances aren’t the real focus, it was still good to see the first ever NCAA Division One lacrosse game played in Washington state draw around 3,500 fans.
Those fans in attendance saw the Denver Pioneers defeat the Maryland Terps by a score of 12-9. The game was played at the Seattle Sounders MLS team practice field got to see the first ever Seatown Classic in Tukwila.
Washington has one pro lacrosse team, the Washington Stealth, but they play in the NLL, which is indoor lacrosse, making this the first ever high level field lacrosse game in the state.
Fans have been lobbying for a possible MLL team in Seattle, and if the market grows, it might be a possibility.
Eric Law led Denver with three goals and Gordie Koerber and Michael Pirone also saw two goals each in the victory.
Kevin Cooper led Maryland with three goals and earned player of the game despite the loss. Nick Amato started in net and he made eight saves.
