Five Stories to Watch in NLL Week Two

The second week of the NLL season opens tonight with the Toronto Rock hosting the Calgary Roughnecks. Below we have come up with five interesting storylines between that game and also Vancouver vs Colorado on Saturday night.

Number Five- Roughnecks without Ranger

The Calgary Roughnecks will be without forward Scott Ranger this week, and they will probably be without him for the year. The top scoring forward has a broken jaw, which means the Calgary offense will have to adjust; but they have more than enough with Curtis Dickson, Dane Dobbie and Shawn Evans.

Number Four- Stealth First Game as Vancouver

The Stealth have been in the league for a number of years, but this week they will play their first game as the Vancouver Stealth franchise. In the off season the Stealth packed up from Everett, Washington and moved north of the border to Langley, where they will be based out of. This week the Stealth are in Colorado, but it will be their first game with the new branding.

Number Three- Rock and Riggers Open

Both the Calgary Roughnecks and Toronto Rock haven’t begun their seasons yet, and they kick it off against each other tonight in Toronto. Both teams finished atop their divisions last year but did not make it to the championship. Both rosters are also extremely similar to their rosters from last season.

Number Two- Will Ward Start?

Last week Tye Belanger got the start for the Colorado Mammoth in their opener, but this week will it be the rookie Dillon Ward? Ward was the Mammoth first round draft pick at third overall this year and many expected him to become their starter. They will be facing a potentially high scoring Stealth team this weekend.

Number One- Chris White Out

Chris White will miss a few weeks with a lower body injury he suffered in training camp. That means he is on IR and it decimates the Rock’s defense a little bit. Dustin Dunn was placed on the roster to replace him, but it’s unknown who will start in his place.
