The off-season officially came to an end for the Green Gaels Junior B Lacrosse Club when their 2015 Conditioning Camp got underway with its first session taking place this past Saturday night at the Civic Recreation Complex in Oshawa.
Saturday night marked the first of four sessions scheduled by the Green Gaels to help players prepare for Junior A, Junior B, Junior C, and Intermediate tryouts in the Durham area. Drills were designed to help players knock off the rust from a long off-season and get them back into lacrosse shape.
Over 40 players from Clarington, Whitby, and Oshawa took part in the drills Saturday night. The Green Gaels coaching staff, along with members from the Green Gaels alumni, were on hand to put the players through a variety of drills. This is Head Coach Brad MacArthur’s fifth season running the Conditioning Camp for the team, and he felt good about the turnout at the first camp.
“We were impressed with the number and the talent level of the players in attendance. Although it’s a big step from minor to junior, at first glance it looks like we will have some tough choices to make this spring. Going forward it will be interesting to see which players exhibit the commitment and dedication it takes to be a member of the Green Gaels.”
The second session of the 2015 Green Gaels Conditioning Camp is this Saturday, March 7 at 9:30PM at the Civic Recreation Complex. Players who have not yet registered for the camp are invited to register onsite Saturday evening prior to the second session. Any players that have not yet registered are asked to show up by 9PM to complete their registration. For additional details regarding the Camp, please visit the Green Gaels website at www.greengaels.com. The Conditioning Camp leads into the Green Gaels tryouts which begin on April 7 at 8:00PM at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex. With a number of players from the 2014 roster not returning due to age, the Gaels coaching staff will be working hard throughout the tryouts to find the talent to help make the 2015 season a memorable one that hopefully culminates in a 2015 Founder’s Cup National Championship.
