As we approach Thanksgiving Day here in the United States, other than our families and friends, our focus turns to sports & shopping for the next 4 days. You have the NFL Turkey Day games, college football Friday & Saturday, and NFL Sunday, as well as the 100th Grey Cup on Sunday. And let’s not forget those sales!!!
So I started to think…What am I thankful for? Yes I am thankful for my lovely wife Jackie, and our 2 kids Christopher and Samantha, as well as our family and friends. But what am I thankful for when it comes to lacrosse?
I am thankful for Russ Cline and Chris Fritz. Without these two men we would not have what is now the NLL. Russ & Chris started this back in 1986 with Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse with the first game being played in 1987. I am thankful for the Philadelphia WINGS, six titles in 9 appearances and never moving to another town. I am also thankful for all the friends I made within the Wings organization as well as all the friends I have made in all the cities throughout the league, especially my Rochester family and friends.
I’m thankful we have a sport where players play the game hard year after year, not just when their contract is up, and play for the love of the game and not the million dollar deals.
Please comment and let us hear:
What are you thankful for?
