Inferno melt Blizzard 17-13

On Saturday the Brampton Inferno took on the Barrie Blizzard. On Friday night Brampton’s game against the Iroquois Ironmen was cancelled due to a real life Blizzard so the Inferno were well rested and ready to beat Barrie. Barrie came into this game after getting trounced by the Toronto Shooting Stars.

In the first quarter of this game it was all Brampton. Brampton took it to the Blizzard as they scored seven goals in the quarter and had a commanding 7-2 lead heading into the second quarter. Jordan Coffrey led the way for Brampton as he had a hat trick in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Blizzard fought back as they rallied their offense after an early Brampton goal and were able to outscore Brampton 5-3 in the quarter making the score 10-7 at half. Scotty Komer was keeping the Blizzard alive in this game after starter Derek Collins was pulled in the first.

In the third quarter the Blizzard continued to roll as they opened up the quarter with two consecutive goals to make this a one goal game. The Inferno would answer back though to make it a two goal game as the score was now 11-9. The Inferno though would take control as they scored three consecutive goals two of them being on the power play. The Inferno would lead 15-10 at the end of the third.  The Inferno would not let up in the fourth as they added another two goals but Barrie would score three goals of their own to try and make a comeback. The score was now 17-13 but Barrie would get no closer as the Inferno held on for the 17-13 win.

The Inferno were on top of their game in this one as they took it to Barrie from the beginning of the game. For the Inferno they were led by Dustin Caravello who had 3 goals and 3 assists on the night while Ryan Campbell would add 6 points of his own along with Jordan Coffrey having four points on the night. The Inferno also received a strong performance from Steve Fryer who made 42 saves in this game and was able to hold onto the win for Brampton.

The Blizzard once again put up a hard fought effort but came up short. The Blizzard were led by Mike Teeter who had 3 goals and 3 assists on the night along with Colin Boucher who had 2 goals and 4 assists. The Blizzard got off to a bad start in this game and were never able to recover despite the strong relief effort put in by Scotty Komer who made 44 saves in the game.

The Inferno will next be in action on Friday February 15 as they visit the Durham TurfDogs. While the Blizzard will once again meet the Toronto Shooting Stars next Sunday.
