Former University of Denver men’s lacrosse midfielder Jeremy Noble has been named the program’s volunteer assistant coach ahead of the 2016 season, head coach Bill Tierney announced on Monday. Noble fills the vacancy left by the departure of Trevor Tierney.
“We couldn’t be more excited to announce that Jeremy Noble (Denver ’14) will rejoin our program as our volunteer assistant coach,” Tierney said. “During his career at DU, Jeremy was an All-American, an All-conference midfielder, a captain of our team and was one of the greatest leaders I have been blessed with in my coaching career. Jeremy will bring his winning attitude and strong work ethic back to DU and help us continue to instill those traits in our players. Matt Brown, our offensive coordinator, brought Jeremy to DU as a recruit and will now team up with him to make our offense even more formidable in the future. Our team is very excited to have Jeremy back, but equally as sad to know that we will be losing Trevor Tierney from the volunteer position.”
Noble recently completed his second season with the Denver Outlaws, playing 16 games in his first two seasons, including both postseason games in his rookie year on the team’s way to its first Major League Lacrosse Championship.
The three-time All-America selection also completed his first season with the Colorado Mammoth in May, scoring 13 goals and tallying 26 assists in nine games with the club. Noble was named an NLL Rookie of the Year finalist in June, an award that will be presented in September at the NLL Season Awards Ceremony in Ontario. The Orangeville, Ontario, Canada native was also a member of the Team Canada side that won the 2014 FIL World Championships in Commerce City, Colo.
Noble will continue to play in both professional leagues in addition to his coaching duties with the Pioneers.
The 2014 DU alum sits fifth in the program’s Division I record books in career points with 147, 10th in goals with 67 and second in assists with 80.
Former volunteer assistant coach Trevor Tierney will continue his career in this field with his newly found company, DELTA Developmental High-Performance Athlete Program, as he finishes his Master’s Degree from Harvard.
“Trevor has been instrumental in our rise to the top of Division I lacrosse in his many roles, especially his mentoring of our goalies,” Bill Tierney said. “Trevor and Ryan LaPlante worked together for many years and their college careers both ended with leading their respective teams to NCAA titles. Trevor has also worked with our team in the all-important aspect of the developmental approach to the game.”
