Sunday, October 6th marked this year’s Play for Parkinson’s lacrosse event. On the women’s side, standout squads like Duke, Maryland, Penn State, JMU, and Georgetown all participated in this great event for a cause. For those that don’t know, PFP is an event that consists of the top NCAA teams from around the country to help raise money and awareness for the ProjectSpark Foundation, established by former Princeton lax player Christian Cook.
At this year’s event, we saw intriguing match-ups between JMU and Georgetown, Duke and Penn State, and Maryland and Duke, among others. Play for Parkinson’s is never about who wins the game, but how much awareness and money can be raised to help support such an important cause. This year, lacrosse players, sponsors, and ProjectSpark all hope that they can surpass last year’s impressive earnings.
Georgetown withstood a Towson rally to defeat them while Duke defeated Towson and Penn State. James Madison was the surprise of the day, defeating Maryland.
