Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league announced Rochester Rattlers attackman, Jordan Wolf was voted the 2015 Warrior Offensive Player of the Year by the League’s Head Coaches and General Managers. In only his second year in the MLL, Wolf is regarded as one of the most dangerous speed dodgers in the game.
Upon receiving this prestigious award from the League, Wolf accepted by saying, “Wow, I am so appreciative. This award should go to our entire Rattlers offense. We are extremely unselfish and my success is just a product of everyone’s efforts. This is such an unbelievable honor.”
Jordan Wolf, a Duke University standout at the time and also a 2013 NCAA Champion, was picked second overall by his present team, the Rochester Rattlers, at the 2014 MLL Collegiate Draft. Coach Tim Soudan knew what he had in Wolf right away and was quoted after the Draft saying, “We addressed a lot of our needs, being able to come away with one of the top two offensive guys in the nation right now, Jordan Wolf. He is going to help us tremendously.”
In his first year in the League, Wolf only played in seven games, yet he finished the year second among his team in points with 33 (21 goals & 12 assists) and two of his goals were game-winners. Wolf went on to finish second in the running for “Cascade Rookie of the Year”.
Wolf had the opportunity to see his first MLL Championship game as a rookie in 2014 against the Denver Outlaws. Despite the loss in that game, he scored one goal and recorded an assist. This year, Jordan Wolf will return to the MLL Championship Game, a more seasoned and accomplished player.
This year, Wolf played in all 14 regular season games with the Rattlers and scored a career-high 61 points (37 goals & 24 assists) and collected 22 groundballs. With such numbers, Wolf is third among the entire league, behind Rob Pannell (68 Points) and Kieran McArdle (65 points). He was named “Coca Cola Player of the Game” in four separate weeks and was also awarded “Warrior Offensive Player of the Game” twice. Wolf was also chosen to be on the 2015 MLL All-Star Team and showcased his offensive talents with four points in that game.
Head Coach of the Rochester Rattlers, Tim Soudan, had this to say about his star offensive player: “What can I say about Jordan? He is a great player and an even better person and his growth this year has been tremendous. He is a fearless dodger…. a pure scoring machine, yet he has developed into ‘the guy’ on the team that makes the others around him better by drawing so much attention and playing completely unselfish. Winning and the team are his main concerns and he is big part of the heart and soul of the locker room. This is a great honor for him and very well deserved.”
Brad Ford, Rochester Rattlers COO, joined in Coach Soudan’s sentiment saying, “Jordan is the epitome of what being a Rattler is all about. His talent, persona and team-first mentality is the standard being set for the future of all lacrosse players. He has earned and deserves all of the accolades that have been bestowed upon him.”
Jordan Wolf and the Rochester Rattlers will take center stage this weekend against the New York Lizards in the 2015 MLL Championship Game on Saturday, August 8th at 7p.m. EST. The game will be played at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, GA. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at HERE.
