Toronto Rock General Manager Terry Sanderson has announced the signing of veteran forward Josh Sanderson to a one-year contract covering the 2013 NLL season.
In July, the Rock placed the franchise tag on the NLL’s 5th all-time leading scorer meaning he would not become an unrestricted free agent on August 1st.  The Rock placed the second of their two franchise player tags on Captain Colin Doyle.
“I’m really excited to be back in Toronto,†said Josh Sanderson. “The goal is to win a championship and I want to do that for the best organization in the league.â€
2013 will be Sanderson’s 16th NLL season and 6th season in Toronto where he has amassed 399 career regular season points in 73 games over his five previous campaigns in a Rock uniform.  Sanderson has played for Rochester, Albany, San Jose, Calgary and Boston in addition to his pair of stops in Toronto.  The Rock re-acquired the 35-year old Orangeville, ON native in September of 2011 from the Minnesota Swarm who had just selected Sanderson in the Boston dispersal draft.
In Sanderson’s first tour of duty with the Rock, he captured the Champion’s Cup in 2005 as Toronto defeated Arizona for the franchise’s 5th NLL title.  Sanderson later won another league championship with the Calgary Roughnecks in 2009.
“I really thought we were coming together at the end of the year,†said Josh Sanderson speaking of the Rock’s 2012 season.  “I want to take a run at a title with this group. We were really playing well at the end of last season and I’m excited about the opportunity that lies ahead this year.â€
The Toronto Rock open the home portion of their 2013 NLL schedule on Saturday, January 19th at Air Canada Centre when they host the Philadelphia Wings.  For the full 2013 Rock schedule and ticket information, please visit www.torontorock.com.
