Day One action at the 2nd Annual Jr. NLL Tournament got underway on Friday afternoon at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, ON. The Jr. Rock are competing in all three divisions: Peewee, Bantam and Midget.
To open the day, the Jr. Rock Peewees coached by Rock goaltender Nick Rose and defenceman Damon Edwards posted an impressive 16-0 win over the Jr. Bandits. The Jr. Rock Peewee team followed that up with a 14-3 win over the Jr. Rush to finish the day with a spotless 2-0 record.
In Bantam action, the Jr. Rock began the day by defeating the Jr. Bandits 18-4 on the strength of a 5-goal game from Josh Dawick. In their second game of the day, they ran into a very tough Jr. Knighthawks squad. The Jr. Rock suffered a very close 14-12 loss to finish 1-1 on the day. The Jr. Rock Bantams are being coached by Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick and featured a couple of guest coaches throughout the day in Rock forward Stephan Leblanc and Rock Head Coach John Lovell.
The Midget Jr. Rock also began the day with a win over the Jr. Bandits, downing their rivals 13-3. Brandon Tancas (2 goals, 3 assists) and Kevin Dong (1 goal, 4 assists) led the way offensively. he Jr. Swarm were the final opponent of the day and the Midget Jr. Rock came away with a 15-5 win to finish the first day of action at 2-0. Rock Strength and Conditioning Coach Sean Holmes and Rock Goaltender Coach Pat Campbell are behind the bench of the Jr. Rock Midgets.
