Penn State’s Weekend Positive for Future

February 25, 2014

It was a huge weekend for Penn State’s men’s Lax. They faced Loyola on the 15th and Notre Dame this past Sunday. On Sunday the 15th, the Blue and White were challenged by Loyola.  The Lions were the underdog coming into the match and were defeated by two points. The Nittany Lions knew they would be in for a tough match, because not only does Loyola have a reputation for…

NCAA Preview: Siena Gaining Growth, Red Storm Tame

February 25, 2014

Siena’s lacrosse program is truly making strides in 2014. They are faced with a noticeably tougher schedule and are performing up to par.   Contrarily, the Red Storm have a season that’s quite tame. They commenced their season with two quick wins, but shortly followed those with a loss to Yale last weekend.   If St John’s offense can create more opportunities, size up with opponents, and show more pressure…

NCAA Week 3/4: Albany’s Second Heartbreak, Penn State(ment), Terps’ Blowout

February 25, 2014

The NCAA just closed on an interesting Week 3/4 in its 2014 season. Of the nine games I’m picking to cover this week, Saturday was mostly upsets while Sunday was home to four blowouts. SATURDAY Penn State 8 Notre Dame 7 This was such a close game all around, and I’m calling it an upset because Notre Dame has proven themselves as a strong program in past seasons. Shots were…

MLL Stock Watch: How Are the Draftees Doing?

February 24, 2014

The one thing that the MLL has over every other professional sport is the unique ability to select college players before their respective final seasons on college campus. It has its advantages as well as its disadvantages. A team could pick a diamond in the rough and pick the player that breaks out in his final year on campus. On the other hand, a team could pick a player that…

Staff Debate: Pushing Back the NCAA Season?

February 21, 2014

A debate this week has been college lacrosse being played in the winter months. Lacrosse Magazine ran an interesting feature on it with quotes like “You’re missing a huge opportunity to generate interest in the sport when you’re playing all of these games, and they might as well be played in Siberia,” from ESPN analyst Eamon McAnaney.   Albany coach Scott Marr also said, “Sure, we can play our sport…
