NCAA Final Four Preview: Who Expected This?

May 20, 2015

At the beginning of the season, many people had Denver and Notre Dame in Philadelphia for Championship weekend. But Maryland?  Some people may have picked them, but the absence of Goran Murray, the availability of Matt Rambo, and the uncertainty in net were big question marks.  Turns out that the defense has been the strength of the Terps all year, which has them against….Johns Hopkins. Oh the Blue Jays, a…

Molnar Blog: Win in the Sunshine State

May 19, 2015

Game number five of the season brought the Denver Outlaws to the sunshine state for a big time match up with the Florida Launch. Having lost the previous weekend in a tough battle with Rochester, we were in need of a victory. We came into the game with a 2-2 record and knew we did not want to dip below .500 to 2-3. We also knew Florida, coming off of…

Outlaws Escape Florida With Win

May 18, 2015

The Denver Outlaws traveled to south Florida to take on the Florida Launch on Saturday. Denver came away with a 15-12 victory, and we led by a 16 save effort by Jesse Schwartzman. Three different Outlaws registered four points in the contest: Eric Law (3, 1), Jeremy Sieverts (3, 1), and John Grant (2, 2). The Launch got four points out of Kieran McArdle (1, 3) and Casey Powell (3,…

Denver Advances Past Ohio State to Final Four

May 18, 2015

Denver held on to beat Ohio State 15-13 after Ohio initially pulled ahead 7-1 in Saturday’s matchup. It seems despite a loss for the Buckeyes, they are indeed for real and have the necessities to go all the way in the near future. Despite a win for DU, they played one of their more sloppy games this past weekend and will most assuredly need to regroup before this upcoming Championship…

Launch Seek Second Win; Face Defending Champ Denver

May 16, 2015

Denver takes its talent to South Beach on Saturday. Well, an hour or so north of South Beach, really, but you get the idea. Florida is coming off their first win of the year. If the MVP is understood as the individual who is the most important to their team, is Kieran McArdle not that person? Most people’s knee-jerk response would be Paul Rabil, but put him on a different…

All Eyes on Denver in Quarter Finals

May 16, 2015

BUILD UP Denver, the Lacrosse Capital of the West, is going nuts this week. As are we media personnel due to the movement in the last week. As Bill Tierney once told me in an interview, “The entire west region kind of looks to DU as their ‘home’ team.” Families are taking off weekend work, players asking for early birthday presents as tickets, and coaches preaching for their teams to…

NLL Season Recap: Colorado Mammoth

May 14, 2015

After finishing in second place in the NLL West Division the Colorado Mammoth’s season came to an end last weekend with an 11-6 loss to the Calgary Roughnecks in the first round of the playoffs. Following two years where the Mammoth finished below .500, their 9-9 record was certainly an improvement, but the early exit from the postseason has to be considered disappointing. Colorado got off to a torrid start,…

Pioneers Advance Past Brown, Get Homefield Opportunity

May 12, 2015

In a game between two of the most offensively productive teams in the NCAA, Brown flew out to Denver to be tested by the Pioneers. While the Pio’s punched their ticket to the NCAA Elite Eight, Brown was another victim of Denver’s prominence falling 15-9. Despite a six point goal differential, the game was very close statistically. Denver’s Trevor Baptiste won more face offs, but not by as many as…

Rattlers Defeat Outlaws in Championship Rematch

May 11, 2015

Sunday saw a rematch of the 2014 MLL championship game when the Denver Outlaws visited the Rochester Rattlers. What a difference a year makes though. The Rattlers handed the Outlaws their second defeat of the season by a score of 15-12. Attackman Jordan Wolf tallied a hat trick for the Rattlers, and five other players had at least two goals for Rochester. Mike Bocklet and Greg Melaugh led the Outlaws…
