The Florida Launch ran their record to 1-3 following a victory last weekend against the Ohio Machine on home turf. The Launch stay at home this weekend as the Denver Outlaws travel from west to east for a Saturday night affair with the Launch.
Launch head coach Stan Ross said his guys were more “motivated” than ever going into Saturday’scontest, and it showed. Florida was very sharp on offense, attackman McArdle, Powell, and Cunningham accounted for 16 Points, leading the way to a 15-12 win.
While the Launch remain at the bottom of the standings, the future is bright. The Thompson brothers are on the way. Brothers, Lyle and Miles have become the biggest name in lacrosse. They have reinvented the new age of lacrosse with their flashy, yet effortless stick skills. If the Thompson brothers have proven one thing, it is that this game is most certainly a Native American pastime first.
The Thompson’s want to do much more than just people fans in the seats though. As Lyle seems to be the clear favorite for the Tewarraton Trophy, he has been humble through the entire process of his collegiate career. Paul Carcaterra recently interviewed Lyle and Paul put him on his ‘Mount Rushmore’ of lacrosse guru’s along with Mikey Powell, Gary Gait and Dave Pietramala.
Lyle’s response, “Goosebumps”. Lyle went on the say he has dreamed of this, can remember playing in the backyard pretending to be a Gait brother, or a Powell brother, making that game winning shot, and wants nothing more than to continue to grow the game. Every true lacrosse players outlook.
The Launch will be without the Thompson’s at least one more week as the University of Albany is in Denver for a NCAA quarterfinal match-up against the fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
