The New York Lizards acquired faceoff man Matt Dolente from the Hamilton Nationals on Wednesday. The Nationals, in return for their faceoff man, will receive midfielder John Antoniades from the Lizards. Dolente played in five games with the Nationals this season, picking up two points and going 67-140 in faceoffs.
Of late the Nationals have been using Mike Poppelton for faceoffs, including in their win last week over the Rochester Rattlers. Antoniades has not played a game all season for the Lizards and has never made an MLL appearance.
Antoniades played college ball with the Hofstra Pride, and had a career 206 points. He was a co captain of the Pride in 2013 and in 2012 was an All-CAA second team selection.
The need for a faceoff man for the Lizards is interesting since they have all star face off man Greg Gurenlian, who has quickly become the most dominant faceoff man in the league. He is 131-211 in faceoffs on the season.
