The Champion Rochester Knighthawks signed restricted free agent Mac Allen to an offer sheet. Allen only played two games last season for the Mammoth due to injury and registered 7 penalty minutes along with 6 loose balls. Allen over his career has 22 points, 283 loose balls, 174 penalty minutes in 62 regular season games.
Allen is the first RFA to sign an offer sheet with a team this off season. Allen if healthy can be a dominant force as he can help any team on defense with his ability to grab loose balls enabling his team to control possession.
The Knighthawks also signed Matt Vinc, Ian Llord and Brad Self. With the addition of Allen it gives the Knighthawk’s one of the best defenses in the league. Allen may not put up points but he brings a level of grit that every team needs along with intensity that is invaluable. Allen had previously played for the Knighthawks but was traded along with John Grant Jr for Matt Vinc. The trade has now come full circle as Allen will now be trying to prevent shots on Matt Vinc. The other thing is that Allen is a team player who will drop the gloves for his teammates and put fear into his opponent.
Overall this is a great signing by the Knighthawks as it will give them depth at defence along with giving them a role player who can change the game with his grit and will make any player pay for getting a shot on net. Allen is a hard nose player that teams hate to play against but team love to have them on their side.
