The Ohio Machine announced earlier today that they have fired head coach Ted Garber and hired Bear Davis to coach the 1-7 team for the rest of the season. In last place in Major League Lacrosse, the Machine suffered their most humiliating loss to date with a 19-5 loss to the 8-0 Denver Outlaws. Garber has been the Machine coach since the franchise joined the league last season.
Davis is an associate athletic director and head lacrosse coach at a Maryland high school and he is the former head coach of NCAA Division 1 team Robert Morris.
Ohio is a combined 3-19 through their first two seasons. Their only win this season came over the Rochester Rattlers, and overall their season has been a bad one since they learned that Peter Baum would not play for them. They have also suffered injuries to Greg Bice and Connor Martin, and their offense has struggled all season.
The Machine host the 3-5 Boston Cannons this weekend. The Cannons fired their coach two weeks ago and are 2-0 under John Tucker.
