The Colorado Mammoth announced today that defensemen Ian Hawksbee has be added to the team’s 23-man Active Roster, and have also signed defenseman John Orsen.
Hawksbee was placed on the team’s Holdout List on December 20, 2012. He was acquired on March 15, 2011 from the Washington Stealth. As part of the deal, the Mammoth also acquired forward Joel Dalgarno and a third round pick in the 2011 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft in exchange for forward Cliff Smith.
Hawksbee, 29, has recorded three goals and 10 assists in two seasons with the Mammoth. His career totals account for 13 goals and 45 assists in 111 career NLL games.
Orsen, who currently serves as the Assistant Coach for Marquette University men’s lacrosse team was placed on the team’s Holdout List in 2012. Orsen entered the NLL in 2006 after being selected 39th overall by the New York Titans. The Laurel Hollow, NY native was acquired by the Mammoth on September 9, 2011 from the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for Ned Crotty.
Orsen, 29, had a stellar season in 2010 collecting 144 loose balls. This performance earned him a spot on the ALL-NLL Second Team.
“Hawksbee and Orsen were with us last year when we went 11-5 and hosted a playoff game,” said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley. “They bring experience and are big left handed defensemen that know our systems and are familiar with the staff and most of our players.”
