The Midwest Indoor Lacrosse Association (MILA) has officially announced this week that it is changing the name of the league to the Continental Indoor Lacrosse League (CILL), effective immediately.
The name change comes following the league’s expansion over the past couple of seasons to areas outside the Midwestern United States, including Colorado last year and the Buffalo, N.Y. area for this coming season.
“We have changed the name to reflect our growing influence and geographical area within semi-professional box lacrosse,’ said John Guy, Director of Operations for Major League Management and Commissioner of the CILL. “This name change shows that our league is looking to continue its growth in the national arena and expand and grow for years to come.”
With the name change comes a new logo that also was also officially unveiled this week. In addition, a new website will be launched soon.
The league’s third season is scheduled to begin this summer with 11 teams set to play.
