Charlotte Hounds midfielder Jovan Miller has been moved from the starting roster to the team’s practice squad, said Miller on Twitter. Earlier today, Miller tweeted “As of today, the [Charlotte Hounds] has placed me on the Practice Squad as I said before for reasons I do not know.” The former Syracuse star was an MLL All-Star last year in 2012 with the Hounds, but hadn’t seen much playing time this year. Despite the discouraging move, Miller stated he is not going to give up hope; “I’m going to keep smiling and being positive” he posted on Twitter.
No official word has come from the Hounds, but Vice President/ General Manager Wade Leaphart tweeted “Not all decisions are popular. We’ll continue doing what’s best for the team. Thanks for all of the tweets!” The move of Jovan Miller comes just after word came that rookie Jake Tripuka of Duke would be joining the team this week when they host the Boston Cannons.
In three seasons in the Major League Lacrosse, Miller has played for two teams; the Rochester Rattlers, who drafted him in 2011 and the Charlotte Hounds. In his time with the league, Miller has scored 35 points (21g, 2 2-point goals, 12a) and added 25 groundballs. In four years at his alma mater Syracuse University Jovan scored 35 goals and added 29 assists to end his college total with 64 points.
