The domination continues as the Whitby Warriors move to 3-0 and punch their ticket to the Minto Cup finals after a 12-7 victory over the Coquitlam Adanacs. Captain Curtis Knight lead the way offensively for the Warriors as he collected seven points (4G,3A) in the win.
Graeme Hossack, Emmerson Clark and Michael MacDonald each added three points to help solidify the bye to the finals.Whitby netminder Alexis Buque picked up his third win of the tournament after a 36 save performance against the BC champions.
The five year veteran keeper has only allowed 15 goals against in just three games.The Adanacs will have another chance to advance to the Minto Cup final series as they take on the host New Westminster Salmonbellies tonight (8/20) at 8 p.m. at Queens Park Areena.The Bellies advance to the semi finals after a 16-9 win over Okoto0k bringing their round robin record to 2-1, good enough for a second place seeding.
New Westminster’s Nathan Stewart and Anthony Malcolm lead the way with an impressive seven points.The Salmonbellies goaltender Frank Scigliano earned the victory after a 22 save campaign.The Alberta champion Raiders exit the Minto Cup with an 0-3 record.
