Stroylines are rampant this afternoon when the Boston Cannons take on the Chesapeake Bayhawks. For the third year in a row, these two clubs will battle it out to see who will get the honor of playing for the Major League Lacrosse Championship.
The Cannons finished as the third seed in the league, getting into the playoffs on the last day of the season by defeating the Ohio Machine. The Bayhawks, meanwhile, failed at their attempt to make the top seed in the league, falling to the Denver Outlaws. Thus, they are the second seed.
Boston’s offense will look to continue to dominate, with Paul Rabil leading the league in points, Matt Poskay leading in goals and Ryan Boyle in assists. Meanwhile, Bayhawks goaltender Kip Turner leads the league in goaltending stats, so this is an interesting matchup.
Chris Eck is questionable for tonight. He did not practice yesterday, and he missed last game against Ohio. Head coach Steve Duffy said last week he will be on the playoff roster, but his knee still hurts.
Alex Smith will play for the Bayhawks in the faceoff circle after undergoing Tommy John surgery. If Eck is out, then John Ortolani will likely take the draws against Smith.
Boston and Chesapeake went one and one against each other this season. The Cannons won against the Bayhawks last season with a last second goal while Chesapeake blew them out in 2010.
Game time is 12pm and you can watch it on ESPN2.
