MLL Championship Weekend: News and Notes

Major League Lacrosse Championship Weekend kicks off tomorrow, here are all of your news and notes you need to know.

* Brendan Mundorf injured his ankle during practice with the Denver Outlaws tonight. He told reporters afterwards it is just a bruise and he will be fine.

* Faceoff man Alex Smith of the Chesapeake Bayhawks is ready to go after having Tommy John surgery and Outlaws face off man Anthony Kelly will play despite a hamstring injury.

* One team has ever won a Championship on their home field, and that was the 2010 Chesapeake Bayhawks. The Boston Cannons have that chance this weekend.

* The Cannons can become the second team to ever go back to back as well. The last team to do that was the Philadelphia Barrage.

* The matchup of goaltenders Jordan Burke against Kip Turner is interesting. Turner was goalie of the year in Boston in 2010 but Burke stole his starting job last season, and won Championship MVP.

* The Bayhawks could become the only team to ever win four championships. They face the Cannons for the third year in a row.

* Every team in the Championship Weekend this season have first year head coaches. Dave Cottle, Jim Stagnitta, Steve Duffy and Joe Spallina, who won head coach of the year.
