After a disappointing 5-9 season in 2012, the Charlotte Hounds were one game away from winning the MLL Championship. Charlotte finished fourth in the regular season standings with a 7-7 record and advanced to the MLL Semi Finals where they defeated the previously undefeated Denver Outlaws (14-0) by a score of 17-14. In the MLL Final, Charlotte lost a heartbreaking 10-9 game to the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
Charlotte’s Matt Danowski was the leader on and off the field for the Hounds this season. He posted a career high 49 points (33G, 6-2PTG, 10A) in 12 games. He was also named to the All-Pro Team and finished second in the MVP race. The six year veteran was named Warrior Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2013.
University of Virginia Alumni’ goaltender Adam Ghitelman had a career season with the Hounds in his second year with Charlotte. Ghitelman posted a 7-6 record with a 12.10 GAA in 2013. The Boston, MA native was a major reason for the success of the Hounds this season.
