On Wednesday, Major League Lacrosse held its Supplemental Draft which is designed to bolster team’s rosters from 23 to 35 players. After the 2014 season each team had to select 23 players they wished to have protected from the draft. The players who weren’t protected were automatically put into the player pool for the draft.
The Chesapeake Bayhawks selected MLL perennial All-Star midfielder, Matt Striebel with the 11th overall selection. After the 12-round draft was completed the Bayhawks had selected 4 midfielders, 4 defensemen, 3 attackmen, and a faceoff specialist.
Striebel joins an already loaded midfield for the Bayhawks that includes Matt Abbott, Kevin Crowley, Ben Hunt, and Kyle Dixon. The Bayhawks also bolstered the defense with former UVA stud defender Matt Lovejoy with the 3rd pick in the 8th round.
The Bayhawks also added Salisbury University (Md.) standout middie Sam Bradman with the 6th pick in the 8th round.
Head coach Dave Cottle added great depth to the roster and the pieces to help guide the Bayhawks to another MLL title.
I would give the Bayhawks a solid A for this draft.
