The 2016 MLL Supplemental Draft occurred at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16. This was the last opportunity for teams like the New York Lizards to fill any remaining holes in their roster before the upcoming 2016 season.
The Lizards had some holes at the midfield position, and wasted no time addressing those holes with their first pick in the draft, selecting Jordan Hall 18th overall. Hall played 10 games for the Launch in 2014, totaling 11 goals and 12 assists. The Lizards brought back some midfielders like Michael Kimmel, Mike Malave, and Max Van Bourgondien and added Cam Flint, who had played for Denver in 2014.
The next order of business for the Lizards was defense. Following the selection of Hall, the Lizards selected two defensemen, Brian Megill, who played 15 games and totaled 40 ground balls over two seasons with the Chesapeake Bayhawks, and Steve Dircks, who played eight games with the Lizards in 2014 before being traded to the Rochester Rattlers.
Then it was time to shift focus to the attack. Cody Jamieson became the 45th pick in the draft, having previously played for the Lizards but was sidelined for the 2015 season with an injury. Bo Stafford was the next attacker the Lizards selected with the 72nd pick. Stafford had an impressive collegiate career at Georgetown, netting 52 goals and 50 assists.
Other players that were drafted by the Lizards in the Supplemental Draft were goalies Sean Brady and Chris Madalon and faceoff Adam Rand. Making selections weren’t the only moves the Lizards made during the draft, however. The Lizards made a trade with the Charlotte Hounds that dealt goalie Charlie Cipriano in exchange for a third round 2016 Collegiate Draft pick (24th overall).
