Every team except Ohio and Hamilton have played, but that changes this week. Here are some news and notes from around the league before the action takes place.
Charlotte Hounds
Matt Danowski will be out this week for the Hounds after he scored seven points in their loss against Denver. However, they will be getting goaltender Adam Ghitelman back after a concussion.
Rochester Rattlers
John Galloway will be back in net for the Rats and they also get back Joel White and Ned Crotty from the Philadelphia Wings. Midfielder Brad Ross also retired yesterday due to concussions.
Hamilton Nationals
“Getting out of the gate quickly is something we’ve worked hard at.” head coach Dave Huntley said earlier today. With the Toronto Rock losing in the playoffs, Garrett Billings will be active this week as well. Kevin Crowley and Brodie Merrill will also be there. They open their season at Boston. Jordan Hall is back after missing 2012 with an ACL tear.
Ohio Machine
Kyle Hartzell should be back this weekend after the Wings lost in the playoffs. They play a 1-0 Denver team at home this weekend to open their season. Chad Weidmaier should be in this week but Kiel Matisz is still with the Minnesota Swarm. They are also without top pick Peter Baum.
New York Lizards
Mark Matthews should be back this weekend but Max Seibald might still be injured. New York should be very happy with their faceoff percentages last week, as it looks like that could be a strength on an already solid team.
Boston Cannons
Colin Briggs wasn’t much of an impact last week with just one goal in a game where the offense could have stepped up. Kevin Buchanan and Chris Eck should join Paul Rabil and crew this week. However, scorers like Briggs and Matt Poskay (one assist) need to step up big time.
Denver Outlaws
Jeremy Boltus played well in his first game as an Outlaw while Peet Poillon struggled in Charlotte, making it look like that trade wasn’t all that bad after all.
Chesapeake Bayhawks
Drew Westervelt, who was playing with the Philadelphia Wings, is back this week. Kip Turner will also be back after missing last week’s game with a coaching commitment. John Grant Jr will not be back yet this week. Dave Cottle spoke today and said that a goal this week for Chesapeake is to be outstanding with faceoffs against a tough Lizards club.
