Boston Cannons
Jordan Burke was placed on the IR by the Cannons so it looks like Mike Gabel will get the start for them against Denver on Saturday. Ryan Boyle is one point away from tying the all time record for career points. If Boston loses it will be their first ever time starting out a season 0-3. Mitch Belisle will be back this week after the Minnesota Swarm lost in the playoffs. Boston also needs Chris Eck back bad, they are 18-53 in faceoffs this year.
News York Lizards
Brian Langtry retried this week, but the big story is how the Lizards scored just three goals in their loss to Chesapeake. Mark Matthews wasn’t back last week, and they hope he will be this week to shore up that New York offense.
Denver Outlaws
Curtis Dickson lost with Calgary in the NLL playoffs this week so he might be with the Outlaws this weekend. All of Denver’s scorers have done what they have to so far with Chris Bocklet playing better than he ever has. Jeremy Boltus has stepped up as well with five points while Jeremy Sieverts is proving he wasn’t just a one year wonder.
Hamilton Nationals
Kevin Crowley carried the Nats with seven goals, and he will likely have to this week too as Cody Jamieson, Stephen Keogh and Rhys Duch will be playing in the NLL Championship game. Martin Cahill also stepped up with three goals, so the Nationals have to be pleasantly surprised with his play.
Ohio Machine
Who is Jeff Ledwick? A first year MLL player who scored two goals in his league debut. The Bayhawks will have to keep their eye out for him as Ledwick seems to be putting up more production than even Ohio expected.
Charlotte Hounds
Peet Poillon really picked up the pace for the Hounds while Matt Danowski was out with seven points of his own to help Charlotte reach a 1-1 mark. Adam Ghitelman seems to be their guy as well after he struggled a bit last season in the cage. Last season’s big struggle was with faceoffs. Geoff Snider has been playing in Calgary so Timmy Fallon has filled in on the X, and so far has gone 26-63 in faceoffs.
Chesapeake Bayhawks
According to the Major League Lacrosse website, Casey Powell is expected to make a return in a couple of weeks to the Bayhawks. Kip Turner allowed just three goals to the Lizards last week in the Bayhawks 9-3 win. Three is the least amount of goals ever scored in an MLL game.
Rochester Rattlers
Jordan MacIntosh should be back in the lineup this week after the Swarm got eliminated. It’s a bit concerning when your leading scorer is Rob Rotanz with just six points. Rochester faces Charlotte again this week, but this time they have Danowski. It will be hard for them to avoid falling into a 0-3 hole.
