First Star:
Adam Ghitelman (Charlotte Hounds) – The unquestioned leader of the Hounds team had a huge game in a must-win against the Lizards on Saturday night. Ghitelman had 12 saves on 21 shots to finish with a 57% save rate in a game that keeps Charlotte in playoff contention. The Hounds jumped out to a 11-3 lead in the first half, and nearly lost that in the second half. With the game coming down to the ropes, Ghitelman made several key saves in the fourth quarter to preserve a 13-11 Hounds win.
Second Star:
Joe Walters (Hamilton Nationals) – The veteran attackman led the Nationals to a 13-12 victory over the struggling Ohio Machine. Walters scored three goals and added three assists in the win, keeping Hamilton in second place behind the Denver Outlaws. Fellow teammate Cody Jamieson also had six points in the win (two goals, four assists) and Hamilton clinched a playoff spot in Philadelphia.
Third Star:
Casey Powell (Chesapeake Bayhawks) – In Powell’s first game back since the end of the 2012 season, he made it look like he never left. Powell was named offensive player of the week with his four total points on three goals and an assist. The Bayhawks remained in third place with the 13-12 win over the Boston Cannons. Powell’s three goals came on just four shots on goal, making his scoring percentage 75%.
