Mundorf Trade to Bayhawks Brings Him Home

Attackman Brendan Mundorf has been acquired by the Bayhawks from the Denver Outlaws in exchange for attackman John Grant, Jr. and defenseman Michael Simon and the 16th pick in the 2014 Collegiate Draft.

“We have been trying to get Brendan for the last four years and are excited to finally be able to keep him here locally,” said Chesapeake head coach Dave Cottle. “He plays with great competitive toughness and we are reuniting him with his college teammate Drew Westervelt.”

Mudnorf was drafted and developed with the Outlaws organization but is from the Baltimore area. This trade made sense for the Bayhawks as in they get a local talent who is a former MLL MVP. Grant, meanwhile, goes to Denver where he plays for his NLL team, the Colorado Mammoth.

The Outlaws won’t have to fly in Mundorf and Grant will be able to play for the Mammoth and Outlaws both with MLL season beginning in earlier April and the NLL season being moved back further.

“First of all I’d like to say that my time in Denver was very special,” Mundorf said in a Bayhawks press release. “I want to thanks the fans and my teammates for a great 8 years there. I am excited about moving to the Bayhawks. I know the franchise well and I have a lot of friends on the team. I am looking forward to playing at home and gearing up for another successful season.”
