Joe Walters led the Nationals with three goals and two assists in the win. Stephen Keogh picked up four goals on attack. Rounding out the scoring for Hamilton were Kevin Crowley (2G, 2A), Kevin Cunningham (1G, 3A), Roy Lang (2G), John Austin (1G, 1A), Jeremy Thompson (1G), Matt Dolente (1G), Cameron Lao-Gosney (1G), Brodie Merrill (1A) and Jordan Hall (1A).
Brent Herbst picked up the win in net with five saves while Evan Kirk shared the duties with five saves as well.
Charlotte`s Peet Poillon scored a team high four points (3G, 1-2PG) in the loss with Jovan Miller scoring the hatrick. Other scorers for the Hounds were Eric Lusby (2G, 1A), Josh Amidon (1G, 2A), Mike Sawyer (1G, 2A), Tim Fallon (1G, 1A),Casey Cittadino (1G, 1A), Adam Ghitelman (2A), Shayne Jackson (1G), Brett Schmidt (1G), Carter Bender (1A) and Brian Carroll (1A).
Ghitelman took the loss in net with seven saves.
The Nationals took an early 5-1 lead in the first quarter but a surge by the Hounds made it 9-6 after six straight goals in the second quarter.
Lang and Keogh fired back to back goals to pull within one to end the half; 9-8 for the Hounds.
Nationals midfielder Lao-Gonsney made it 13-11 with 9:00 minutes left in the fourth quarter.
A two point goal on the man up by Poillon with five minutes remaining in the game pulled the Hounds within one. However, off a quick turnover, the Nationals answered back with a goal by Keogh.
The Hounds rallied back to tie it at 15-15 with a lazer by Cittandino with less than two minutes remaining.
In overtime, faceoff specialist Dolente picked up the loose ball and scored just seven seconds into OT to win 16-15 and now sit in a three way tie for first place with Chesapeake Bayhawks (3-0) and the Denver Outlaws (3-0).
Next up for the Nationals is May 23rd when they travel to Ohio to take on the Machine (0-2) at 7:30 pm.
The Hounds are back at it in New York when they face the Lizards (1-2) at 7:30 pm on May 31st at Shuart Stadium.
