The Hamilton Nationals (2-0) registered their second straight victory after defeating the New York Lizards (1-2) by a score of 12-11 on Saturday night in Hamilton, ON. Kevin Crowley (1G, 1-2PG, 1A) scored a two point man up goal with only five seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to win the game for the Nationals.
Leading the way for the Nationals were Kevin Cunningham with a hat trick and one assist, John Austin with one goal, one –two point goal and assist and Jeremy Thompson with two goals.
Nationals goalie Evan Kirk picked up the win in net recording 10 saves .
The Lizards were pleased with their new additions for the 2013 roster after acquiring Mark Matthews, David Earl and Matt Gibson. Matthews made his debut with the Lizards after finishing his NLL season with the Rush, scoring a hat trick and one assist. Earl scored a goal and Gibson scored two goals and three assists for a game high five points. Other scorers for the Lizards were Stephen Peyser with two goals and Grant Catalino with a goal and one assist.
Veteran goalie Drew Adams recorded the loss in net, making 14 saves and surrendering 10 goals against.
Next action for the Nationals is when they host the Charlotte Hounds (1-2) on May 17th at 11 am.
The Lizards take on the Machine (0-2) when they travel to Ohio on May 18th, gametime 8 pm.
