Williamstown, Mass. – NCAA Division three lacrosse has a new “star” this week. Bowdoin’s Mac Caputi scored his first career goal in the fourth overtime against Williams to lift the No. 20 Polar Bears to a 7-6 win. The Bowdoin Polar Bears were on a streak four consecutive wins entering Saturday and with Caputi’s overtime clincher, the Polar Bears are now 6-2 winning their last five contests and winning their second one-goal games in as many days.
Utica, N.Y. – Utica College’s Ben Winkler completed two incredible feats on Friday. One, Winkler scored his 100th career goal, 17th this season, becoming only the third player in Utica history to do so and two, his goal was scored in overtime against Misericordia to lead the Pioneers to a 10-9 victory. Winkler’s goal was scored with inly 1:23 left in the period when he took the pass from teammate Joe Schoen and whipped it into the back of the net for the victory. Winkler now has 128 career points, third all-time in school history.
ALMA, Mich. – Huntingdon junors attackman Mike Kazmarik scored five goals last Monday to help the Hawks defeat Alma 10-1. The second year Huntingdon program set a school record allowing only one goal on Monday, but the real story is Kazmarik, who scored a career high five goals in the Hawks blowout win over the Scots. Kazmarik now has 19 points on the season including 17 goals which puts him third on the team.
