Games galore on the Saturday schedule today around Divisions one, two and three, we have some of the best ones below.
Division One
UMBC Retrievers vs Robert Morris Colonials
The Colonials are coming off of a loss last week against Bellarmine and now face UMBC in their opener. Last season the Retriever defense struggled, they are going to need to step it up to keep the Colonials under ten goals. They have four straight road games, and this is the start of it.
Lehigh Mountain Hawks vs Villanova Wild Cats
The Hawks blew out St. Joseph’s last week, holding them to one goal. The Wild Cats will be a little bit tougher in their opening game. They have some midfield concerns, and probably are not the favorites against Lehigh, who is becoming a power. Lehigh’s defense is unbelievable, and they didn’t lose a lot from last season.
Fairfield Stags vs Bryant Bull Dogs
Fairfield’s matchup with Stony Brook was cancelled, so this is their first game. Last week, Bryant fell to Colgate in a one goal game. Bryant has a new goalie which will make things interesting against a Stags offense that heads Sam Snow who scored 38 goals last season.
Massachusetts Minutemen vs North Carolina Tar Heels
UMass is not happy with last season ending the way it did. They destroyed Army last week, but the Heels will be a tougher test after they defeated Air Force last week. The Minutemen have Will Manny, one of the best players in the country who will lead them on offense. For North Carolina, they are led by top prospect Marcus Holman and Ryan Creighton.
Drexel Dragons vs Virginia Cavaliers
This is the first game for both the Cavs and Dragons. Drexel got hot at the end of last season, but Virginia is an elite team. The Cavs have lost some of their stars, including Steele Stanwick. They have some injuries including their goalie Dan Marino, but all of the injured players have been cleared for this game.
Stony Brook Seawolves vs Marist Red Foxes
Marist has not played yet while Stony Brook’s game last week was cancelled. The Wolves were inconsistent last season despite their America East championship, and without a game last week against Fairfield, Marist might be a good team to open up against.
Maryland Terrapins vs Hartford Hawks
Maryland scored 23 goals on Mount Saint Mary’s last week. You’d have to think they don’t repeat that, but Hartford struggled last season and now they’ve lost their best player in Carter Bender. Hartford might have a long day ahead of them.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Duke Blue Devils
Duke split last weekend with a loss to Denver but then a victory over Jacksonville. They scored 12 against the Pioneers so their offense sure didn’t struggle. They face their rival Notre Dame who are the favorites to win the Big East.
Loyola Greyhounds vs Delaware Blue Hens
The defending champs play their first game of the season as they face the Blue Hens who defeated the expansion High Point Panthers 12-10 to open their season two weeks ago. Loyola loses Eric Lusby, now a pro, but they have Mike Sawyer back for this season. This should be an easy win for them.
Johns Hopkins Blue Jays vs Towson Tigers
Hopkins defeated Siena last week while Towson fell to the expansion High Point. This game might get out of hand.
