#1 Maryland vs #19 Duke 11am – Huge ACC matchup today as the Blue Devils host the Terrapins in this mornings matchup. Duke needs to make a statement today by downing the Terps after a 14-9 loss at Penn and falling to 2-3 on the season. At 3-0, Maryland is coming off a huge revenge win over Loyola 12-10. Can Maryland handle the pressure of being ranked number one?
Air Force vs. Marquette Noon – Dominated in their first game at the varsity level, Marquette is looking to bounce back. Standing in their way is Air Force, who have shown the lacrosse world that they aren’t playing around this year with statement wins over Rutgers and Lehigh. The Golden Eagles head into Falcon Stadium to see if they can grab their first program win as the Falcons look to go 5-1.
#19 Albany (1-1) vs. Yale (0-1) Noon – In their first home game of the season, the Great Danes welcome in the Bulldogs in their noon matchup. Yale lost to Saint John’s 10-9 a week ago to start 2013. Albany started off the year with a big OT upset win at Syracuse 16-15, but then falling at Drexel 20-19. The Thompson’s will make the Bulldog defense work hard, which will make ball possession on offense that much more crucial.
Army (2-2) vs. Michigan (0-3) Noon – Scoring only two goals agains the Orange last Sunday, Garrett Thul, who was held pointless against Cuse, and the Black Knights are eager to pick up their third win this season. Michigan is still winless sense beating Detroit last year. The Wolverines are letting up double digit goals, while only managing to average about 6 goals a game. We’ve seen Michigan with life when they took an early lead on Hopkins, but they slowly faded away. Goalie Gerald Logan was playing with an injury, which shows his toughness and he made amazing saves, if he’s healthy going into this game, Army will have a tough time scoring.
Dartmouth (1-1) vs. Georgetown (1-1) – Losing to Lafayette put a damper on the Hoyas home opener, but they bounced back nicely, sinking Navy 9-8. Dartmouth held on tight but let their Colgate matchup sip through their fingers, losing 13-10. Their game against Vermont was a different story, as the Big Green thumped Catamounts 13-8. Both teams will be trying to get their second win of the season.
#2 Notre Dame (2-0) vs #9 North Carolina Noon (2-1) – Battle in South Bend today, as the Tar Heels travel North to take on the Irish. The Irish dominated Duke 13-5 and just squeaked by Penn State in a close 10-9 win.UNC disarmed Air Force 16-8, watched the Minutemen take away a win 12-11 and then took the stags out to pasture with a 10-9 victory. Future ACC matchup, UNC and Notre Dame haven’t met since 2011, where the Tar Heels won 9-8.
Sacred Heart (0-2) vs. Holy Cross (1-2) Noon – The Pioneers will have to watch out for Clay Haarmann and Myles Gillespie, who lead the Crusaders in points this season, combining for 21. 2005 was when these two last battled on the lacrosse field, with Sacred Heart stealing the win 14-13. Will the Crusaders get their long waited revenge?
