While the Tar Heels started out in a slump it looks like they have shaken off the one goal loss spell. Their defeat over Dartmouth and the now ranked #2 Maryland proves just that.
Handing then ranked #1 Maryland their first loss of the season on Saturday coupled with Sankey and Burke receiving offensive and defensive players of the week by the ACC gives Brown reasons for concern. With Sankey’s complete offensive threat and Freshman Burke’s save percentage of .667, it will be a challenge for Brown to overcome.
Brown might just be up for the challenge. Freshman Henry Blynn along with Sam Hurster will be tip toeing around Burke’s crease if not guarded well. Freshman goalie, Jack Kelly, is ranked 10th in the nation in goals against. He has posted a reliable winning streak in his first collegiate games. Even though Brown may have fallen to UNC twice in their prior match up history, they are looking stronger and are ranked within in the top 20.
It will be interesting to see if the two freshman goalies can stand the barrage thrown at them and which school ultimately comes out on top winning. Has UNC broken the spell or will Brown continue to move up the rankings? Watch live on ESPNU or ESPN3 at 6:00 pm EST, Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from Fetzer Field and Chapel Hill, NC.
