The Toronto Rock face off with the Calgary Roughnecks this week as the top teams in their respective divisions. Toronto leads the league with five wins but lost last Friday to Minnesota, while Calgary has won four in a row.
“We know we have a big test in the Roughnecks coming to the ACC Friday night, so like I said before we need to be ready to play and try and match their intensity early on in the game” said Nick Rose, their starting goaltender.
Rose was the backup in Calgary last season before he was traded to Toronto at the trading deadline. Since then, he says he has had terrific support with the Rock.
“Definitely a little more comfortable but since day one I have got nothing but support so it’s been an easy transition.”
Toronto suffered a tough overtime loss in Minnesota last week with three goals from transition man Tyler Hass. Now they face an even tougher offense in Calgary. “I think we get back to what we’ve done early in the season by working hard and staying focused, things have been a little loose after the early season success. so we have to come prepared to play every night.” says Rose.
“I think we’re happy to be a top the East but we definitely know we need to get better. There are no easy games in the NLL so we are happy to have 5 wins already in the season but need to be better.”
