NLL Announces 2017 Schedule: Highlights

swarm

The 2017 National Lacrosse League season will kick off on December 29th, and for just the second time since 1993, the off season saw no team relocation or movement. Everyone from last season returns as the Saskatchewan Rush will look to defend their title.

The season is full of plenty of interesting games, but here are the most intriguing.

Week One

Toronto @ Rochester, 12/29 7:30pm- The first game of the season will pin two perennial eastern powers against each other. However, both these clubs missed the post season in 2016 and will be looking to get their seasons started on the right foot.

Week Four

New England @ Georgia, 1/20 7:35pm- Two up and coming young teams in the east, these two played one of the best games of the season when New England topped Georgia in overtime in the divisional playoffs. Both teams have seen upgrades, and they face each other in week four.

Rochester @ Saskatchewan, 1/21 8:30pm- The Rush will raise their second banner in as many years, and they will have an opportunity to celebrate their first title since moving to Saskatoon when they play their first home contest in week four against the Knighthawks.

Week Eight

New England @ Buffalo, 2/17, 7:30pm- This game will be the return of two former Bandits in Jay Thorimbert and Chad Culp who signed with New England this off season. It should also be a vital contest in the eastern conference race midway through the regular season.

Colorado @ Saskatchewan, 2/18, 8:30pm- This will be the first time Zack Greer and Adam Jones will face each other after the teams swapped them for each other ahead of the draft.

Week Fourteen

Saskatchewan @ Buffalo, 4/1, 7:30pm- A rematch of the 2016 Champions Cup that saw the Rush defeat Buffalo, they don’t face each other in the regular season until week fourteen when Saskatchewan travels to face the Bandits at the First Niagara Center.

Week Eighteen

Saskatchewan @ Calgary, 4/29, 9pm- The final game of the NLL regular season, and it should be an important one in the western conference as the two teams from last year’s conference finals face off.
