IL Indoor is reporting the National Lacrosse League and the Professional Lacrosse Players Association is nearing a deal on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.Last week ILWT spoke to several league GMs who indicated a deal was close. Meanwhile, Buffalo Bandits forward Ryan Benesch said on a Buffalo radio station he expected it to be resolved soon as well.
Now Inside Lacrosse is reporting the deal is officially nearing completion. Last season the league negotiated a one year CBA, and presumably this deal will be a little bit longer. Despite delaying free agency due to the CBA, the draft went on as planned.
Due to free agency being delayed for so long it is likely training camps will be more intense than ever with new free agents signing late and having little chance to acclimate themselves. To make matters more interesting, there is a good chance rosters are cut from 23 players to 20.
Other new additions to the league will include an 18 game season and longer playoff series with two game series and then a ten minute mini game to determine the winner.
