NLL Free Agency Update: Culp Signs for Two Years

The NLL free agency period is well underway now, with teams steadily locking down their outstanding players.

The Colorado Mammoth have been very busy, signing Eric Law, John Gallant, Nick Carlson, Ian Hawksbee, Jake Crans, Dan Ball and Michael Simon all to one year contracts and Colin Boucher to a two-year deal. They have also acquired restricted free agent Alex Turner from the Minnesota Swarm after the Swarm declined to match Colorado’s qualifying offer to Turner.

The Vancouver Stealth have also been busy. They have signed Brad Richardson, Justin Pychel, Johnnie Rae, Mitch McMichael and Caleb Wiles to one-year deals, Tyler Burton to a two-year contract, and have traded Mike Grimes and a third round pick in in 2016 for Taylor Haas and Dane Stevens.

The Toronto Rock have given one-year contracts to Steve Fryer, Bill Hostrawser, Mike Lum Walker, Scott Johnston, Craig England, Mark White and Mike Burke. Burke was formerly with the Edmonton Rush, playing in two games in 2013. They’ve also signed former Philadelphia Wing Kevin Ross to a two-year agreement—Ross played six games last season for the Wings, recording 12 points. Jeff Gilbert was also signed to a two-year deal while Rob Hellyer received a three-year contract.

The Calgary Roughnecks are slowly locking up their outstanding players, agreeing to one-year deals with Frankie Scigliano and Travis Cornwall, and two-year deals for Curtis Manning and Garrett McIntosh.

In addition to the deal for Grimes and allowing Turner to leave for Colorado, the Swarm have signed Reid Acton and Jordan Houtby to one-year agreements.

The Buffalo Bandits have signed Corey Fowler, Joel Mathews, Dave Diruscio and Adam Wall to one-year agreements and Chad Culp has been signed to a two-year deal.

The Rochester Knighthawks made a number of long-term deals last year and this year they’ve added two more multi-year contracts to the list, signing Derek Hopcroft and Scott Campbell to two-year contracts.

The team formerly known as the Philadelphia Wings—now residing in Connecticut—have made no moves as of yet while the entire organization undergoes changes. The Edmonton Rush have also not yet made a move during the free agent period.
