NLL Power Rankings: Rock Back On Top

Another exciting week and a new #1 …  The Toronto Rock reclaim the top spot once again after this weekend…. To say the 2013 season is less then exciting would be a complete understatement

  1. Toronto Rock.   In the battle of Canada between the Rock & Roughnecks, the Toronto Rock reclaim #1 and continue to lead the east after defeating the Roughnecks 17-12 thus sweeping there season series match-up and ending Calgary’s 4 game winning streak.  The Rock used an 11-4 run in the second and third quarters to take control of the game.  Garrett Billings led the way for Toronto with 6 goals and 4 assists. Rock went 9-12 on the power play.  Toronto is off this week as they prepare for a Feb 28 (Thursday night) game vs Buffalo

 

  1. Calgary Roughnecks drop to 2 as they split this weekends matchups.  After falling to the Rock Friday night 17-12, the ‘Necks battled a young Swarm team and escaped with a 17-16 win.  Scott Ranger 6 goals, Curtis Dickson & Dane Dobbie hat tricks led the way for the Roughnecks who still hold the lead in the west. Next Opponent  @ Washington  Feb 23  10pm

 

  1. Buffalo Bandits..  Bandits used a 8-4 run in the middle two quarters to defeat the Hawks 10-6 and defeat the Hawks for the second time this season in there own barn.  A well balanced attack led by Luke Wiles’ hat trick and kept the Bandits 1.5 games out of first in the east.  Next Opponent.  Thur Feb 28 @ Toronto.  Buffalo is on a bye this weekend

 

  1. Washington Stealth..  Despite there 15-10 loss at Edmonton the Stealth still hold down the #4 spot.  Rhys Duch led the Stealth with 4 goals.  The Stealth will now prepare for a first place battle with the Calgary Roughnecks.  Next Opponent   Calgary  Feb 23 10pm

 

  1. Edmonton Rush.. A huge leap to number five for the Rush as they defeated the Stealth at home 15-10, then travel to Colorado and double up the Mammoth 14-7.  Rookie sensation Mark Matthews led the way for the Rush this weekend wit 11 goals in the two games.  The Rush will now have another back to back weekend as they will have a home and home versus the Swarm.  Next Opponent  Friday Feb 22  vs Swarm 9pm.  Sunday @ Minnesota 3pm

 

  1. Rochester Knighhawks.  After winning three in a row, the Bandits came in and defeated the defending champs for the second time in Rochester.  The middle two quarters were the downfall for the Hawks as they were outscored 8-4.  Hawks will now prepare for a Wings team that they have defeated 11 games in a row, and goaltender Matt Vinc also owns a 11 game win streak going back to the New York/Orlando Titan days.   Next Opponent  vs Philadelphia  Feb 23rd  7:30pm

 

  1. Minnesota Swarm.  A tough battle with the Roughnecks this past weekend drop the Swarm to #7, but they have shown the league you can not take this team lightly and will be a team to contend with.  Next Opponent weekend matchup with the Rush   Fri @ Edmonton 9pm   Sunday home vs Edmonton

 

  1. Philadelphia Wings..After another bye week, and another week to have a crushing defeat soak in, the Wings are back in action this weekend with back to back games.  This weekend is very important for the Wings to get back on track  Next Opponent  Feb 23 @ Rochester 7:30  & Feb 24  vs Colorado 4pm

 

  1. Colorado Mammoth..  After being doubled up at home by the Rush 14-7, the goaltending still seems to be a question.  Matt Roik allowed 9 goals on 26 shots in 31 minutes of play.  John Grant Jr hat trick and Adam Jones 2 goals led the way for the Mammoth.  Next Opponent  Feb 24 @ Philadelphia 4pm
