NLL Three Stars: Rochester Sweep

This past weekends Championship Game was one for the archives.  A forced turnover and a last second shot sent just wide and the ROCHESTER KNIGHTHAWKS CROWNED 2013 NLL CHAMPIONS!  First time since 2002-2003 we have had repeat Champions.  Now the hurdle that nobody has done…. Three peat?

Kudos to the fans from Rochester who made the 2,780 mile trip to support there team, as well as the Stealth fans who made the 95 mile trip across the border, as well as the fans who needed to get passports expedited to them at an additional cost, just to support there team.

Here are my 3 Stars for the 2013 NLL Championship.

3.   Dan Dawson—Finally the Dangerous One has captured the NLL Title!!! And taste the sweet bubbles of      Champagne.    Dawson tallied 1 goal and 4 assist.  His only goal put Rochester ahead 3-2 and they were never to trail again.  After 12 seasons it was nice to see the Dangerous one hoist the cup.

2.    Joe Walters.  Sometimes goes unnoticed in his play…. Walters registered 1 goal and 5 assists.   His only goal proved to be the main goal… The Game Winning Championship Goal at 2:24 of the final quarter.  Walters finished the playoffs with 3 goals and 9 assists in the playoffs this season.  Walters had 4 goals and 9 assists in last seasons title run.  Seems the playoffs are his cup of tea…or should we say “Champagne”

1   Cody Jamieson.Tallied  3 goals and 3 assists in the Championship game.  After spraining his ankle in round 1, (1 goal/2 assists) he played round 2 at 75-80% and registered 1 goal/4 assists.   All of this after it was very uncertain he would be available to play after round one.  Jamieson registered  5 goals and 9 assists in this years playoffs, helping the Knighthawks to win back to back titles.  Jamieson was also named game MVP for the second straight year as well

Dan Dawson won his first title and was the third star.

THANK YOU Mr George Daniel for keeping the league going and giving us a sport where the players play for the love of the game.

THANK YOU Rochester Knighthawks and Washington Stealth.  You gave us fans a game to remember.  Both played hard til the final horn and showed fantastic sportsmanship. Unfortunately only one team can win, So hold your heads high Stealth, you played like Champions, your fans should be proud.

THANK YOU.. To the rest of the teams in the NLL and there fans.  Each week fans have bee able to enjoy watching games online, tv, etc…  Some have even traveled to the opposing cities and were welcomed with a smile. Sure some razzing goes on, but in the end…WE ARE A LACROSSE FAMILY!

Last but not least, THANK YOU to ALL  the players in the NLL. Win or Lose, always willing to talk to fans young and old, take pictures, sign autographs, etc.. Even after a long work week, to do what you do on the floor week after week,  THANK YOU

Now that this fantastic ride has come to a stop with the Knighthawks repeating as Champions, we must all disembark the NLL train.  Time to get on the next train(s)  MLL…WLA…MSL…  By the time those trains come to their final stop, we will be ready for the NLL Draft and another glorious ride!!

This time   18 Game Season!!!  Can we handle another two exciting weeks like this past season?   WOW!
