The National Lacrosse League has issued a statement on the selection of Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia as the venue for the 2013 NLL Championship Game between the defending champion Rochester Knighthawks and Washington Stealth on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. ET.
The Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. was booked for a circus on the scheduled date for the 2007 NLL Championship Game. The Knighthawks were afforded an opportunity to present to the NLL Board of Governors an alternate venue to play the game in. The Knighthawks explored a number of potential venues in Western and Central New York, but could not secure a facility in a manner satisfactory to the NLL Board. As such, home field advantage for the 2007 title game shifted to Arizona.
This postseason, the Stealth were faced with a similar situation and secured the Langley Events Centre as an alternate venue. Last week, the selection of the Langley Events Centre as the venue for the 2013 NLL Championship Game was approved by the NLL Board of Governors in the event that the Stealth won the West Division Final, which they did with their 14-13 win over the Calgary Roughnecks this past Saturday.
