Nolan Heavenor Retires from NLL

According to Off the Crosse Bar radio in British Columbia, Calgary Roughnecks transition man Nolan Heavenor is retiring from professional lacrosse.Heavenor has been in Calgary for most of his career outside of his first season with the Minnesota Swarm. In his career he has scored 99 points, 45 of them being goals. He also took faceoffs, most of the time when Geoff Snider wasn’t there, and had a career faceoff percent of 55.9%.

Playing eight years in the NLL, Heavenor is considered one of the most under rated players of his era. He contributed to the Roughnecks in a variety of factors with faceoffs, scoring and team leadership.

Teddy Jenner from Off the Crosse Bar speculated that Marty Dinsdale, a second year player, could take his role as the secondary faceoff man. That right side of transition now only has Snider and Curtis Manning. Last season after Heavenor and Snider only one other player took multiple faceoffs, and that was Curtis Dickson with two. Out of their draft class, only Garrett McIntosh seems like a likely player to take faceoffs in the NLL.
