The NLL trade deadline might almost be here, but Major Series Lacrosse teams are active as well. Today the Oakville Rock acquired forward Brett Hickey and defenseman Glen Bryan and a second round pick from the Kitchener Waterloo Kodiaks in exchange for Jacob Ruest and defenseman Aaron Brown.
Hickey is the big name in the deal after having a breakout season in the NLL with the Toronto Rock. Bryan is in the midst of his second stint with the Toronto Rock after some time in Buffalo.
Hickey has been playing out west in the summer but now that he is with the Rock it’s likely he’ll stay on the east coast and play for Oakivlle, who are somewhat of a training team for Toronto at this point.
Ruest is a 2015 NLL draft prospect who played with Burlington in his junior career. He had 31 points in 15 senior games last season and will have playing time with the Kodiaks.
Brown played at Bandits training camp this past fall.
