The Ohio Machine had won just one game all season before their victory last night over the now 2-7 Hamilton Nationals by a score of 13-12.
The Machine got two goals a piece from Steele Stanwick, Jim Connolly and Eric O’Brien. The Nationals saw two goals a piece from Cody Jamieson, Stephen Keogh, Kevin Crowley and Garrett Billings.
Brian Phipps played the entire game in net for the Machine where he made seventeen saves and gave up twelve goals. Scott Rodgers and Brett Queener split the game in the crease for the Nationals as per usual. Rodgers gave up right goals and Queener gave up four.
One of the stories of this game, despite the loss, was the Nationals dominance in the faceoff circle. Matt Delonte went 19 for 27 for the Nationals after Hamilton traded star faceoff man Geoff Snider to the Hounds. Snider is currently in Finland to coach Team Canada, but the Nats showed faith in Delonte and he did his job.
This game was in Hamilton, and the two clubs with wrap up their home and home series tonight in Ohio. The Machine are looking to move out of the cellar if they win, as they would be 3-7 and the Nationals would fall to 2-8.
